A World of learning
Three international journeys and teaching at a high academic level.
You get to know the World and the World gets to know you.
WHAT IS AN “EFTERSKOLE”?
The “efterskole” is a unique Danish boarding school, where students from the ages of 14 to 18 can choose to spend time to finish their primary education. We are a self-governing independent institution, and we deal with both the educational and personal development of the students. We embrace a common educational focus on enlightenment for life, general education and democratic citizenship.
Every year we exchange with different schools all over Europe. The theme of the exchanges is “young people meeting young people”. The goal is to widen the students’ perspectives by meeting other Europeans and their culture.
If your school is interested in participating in an exchange or wants to know more about the exchange program, we would like to hear from you.
International students from all over the world attend our school. We have had students from the USA, UK, Germany, France, Malawi, Thailand, Australia, Sweden, Russia and several other countries – most of them want to learn more about Denmark and Danish culture. Appart from that, we also offer them an environment where they can be challenged academically and develop themselves socially.
Most of our international students join our International Class and take lessons in Danish as a Second Language. The study program is an excellent opportunity to get to learn the Danish language and more about Danish culture.
Teaching at Rejsby
Rejsby Europæiske Efterskole prepares you for Danish high school (or similar) with teaching at a high academic level. You learn a number of basic study techniques including reading methods, note taking, organisation skills, computer usage, grammar and how to write reports.
We offer more than 30 electives ranging from sports, arts, music, science to humanities – some of them taught at high school level (e.g. Elite English, Advanced Mathematics and Social Studies).
In addition to the official Danish School-Leaving Examinations, we offer examinations from Cambridge International Examinations, Goethe-Institut and Institute Français.
OUR INTERNATIONAL CLASS
At form level 10 we offer an international study program based on Content & Language Integrated Learning (CLIL). All subjects are taught in English except Danish, Danish as a Second Language, German and French.
CLIL is an approach for learning content through an additional language (foreign or second), thus teaching both the subject and the language. (Wikipedia)
Students joining the international study program participates in all activities and aspects of the daily life at the “efterskole” – the only difference is that most of the subjects are taught in English.
